Proclaimers get wheel inspiration from soldiers

Honour … The Proclaimers with Adam Douglas and Sean Allerton

THE PROCLAIMERS yesterday launched a charity bid by two heroic soldiers to ride 500 MILES in their wheelchairs.

Charlie and Craig Reid — who had a hit with I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) — backed injured ex-servicemen Adam Douglas, 44, and Sean Allerton, 47, from Leeds, when they met up with them at RAF Church Fenton, North Yorks.

The twins are patrons of the duo’s charity Forgotten Heroes, and Craig said: “For us to be here is an honour. What they’re doing is absolutely inspirational.”

[Note: Please be aware that The Forgotten Heroes are no longer a charity supported by Push 500, and I am not, nor ever was, a part of that charity; I merely raised funds for them during the first 500 miles. Mr Douglas was not doing the 500 miles in the wheelchair.]
