BIG PUSH: EX-RAF regiment gunner Sean Allerton undertook a 24-hour wheelchair push at RAF College Cranwell.

Ex-RAF gunner pushes himself to limit for 24-hour challenge

AN ex-RAF regiment gunner undertook a charity wheelchair push at RAF College Cranwell.

Sean Allerton took part in the 24-hour push attempt around The Orange outside College Hall as part of his Push 500 Wheelchair Challenge.

Officer cadets from D Squadron accompanied him by running the 500m circuit throughout the night and he raised £1,051.52 for the RAF Association, the RAF Benevolent Fund, Flying Scholarships for the Disabled and the RAF Charitable Trust.

Following a motorcycle accident 20 years ago Sean was left a tetraplegic and confined to a wheelchair but this hasn’t stopped him in his mission to raise funds.

Sean said: “Having done the night element first, the day was actually the hardest part and I found myself dropping off to sleep whilst pushing myself.

My shoulder and neck also began to hurt during the day but other than that the worst part was the rain.”
