CHIEF OF THE Air Staff Sir Stephen Dalton hit the runway at Benson as former Gunner Sean Allerton powered through the halfway mark of his 500-mile wheelchair marathon.

SAC Sean was paralysed following a motorbike accident on Akrotiri. He was inspired to launch his fundraising effort by the song 500 miles by The Proclaimers and will be donating the cash to Forces charities which have helped him.

Speaking after Sean clocked up his 251st mile, Sir Stephen said: “Sean is a great advocate for the support he has received and is truly inspirational.”
